Acclaimed American film director Quentin Tarantino has re-affirmed a long standing intention to only make 10 films in his career, meaning that after last years Oscar Nominee The Hateful Eight, he only intends to make two more films.
Tarantino, who has racked up a number of iconic and beloved films such as Pulp Fiction, Resevoire Dogs and Inglorious Basterds, isn’t exactly saying anything new, having previously made this 10-films-then-retirement intention public knowledge on a number of occasions, though many of his fans had not believed he would actually quit.
Speaking at the Adobe Max convention in San Diego, Tarantino also outlined what he would consider a successful career.
“Hopefully, the way I define success when I finish my career is that I’m considered one of the greatest filmmakers that ever lived. And going further, a great artist, not just filmmaker.”
A strong argument could be made that Tarantino, who has been Oscar Nominated for his work, is already considered a great artists, even before the creation of his so-called final two films.
What those final two films will be no one yet knows, but Tarantino has previously teased a potential third instalment to the Kill Bill series, and a “Bonnie and Clyde-esque” film set in 1930s Australia, along with showing interest in a handful of other pieces and periods.
Whether or not those will make it in to his final 10, or if he’ll stick to 10 at all, remains to be seen.
