Originally, Nanga is from the Mankon Tribe of Bamenda, Cameroon.

She was raised in West Africa.

Nanga rose to fame after American model Gigi Hadid shared a picture of Nanga to her Instagram account in July 2021, stating that she was her “NYC inspiration of the day”. In turn, Awasum reposted the post on her Instagram with a selfie of her from the front in the same outfit.
