Billy Hicks passed away shortly after midnight at Georgetown Hospital, as confirmed by the Scott County coroner.
Emergency services were dispatched to Hicks’ residence after 11 p.m. on Sunday, leading to his transport to a Georgetown hospital.
Regrettably, all attempts to save him proved futile. Medical authorities pronounced him dead, citing natural causes as the apparent reason for his death.
Hicks’ departure is especially poignant as it occurred just days before the commencement of the Billy Hicks Classic.
Set to play at Scott County and Great Crossing High School, the tournament was scheduled from December 5 to 9.
And despite the profound loss, the organizers have decided, after careful consideration, to proceed with the Billy Hicks Classic as originally planned.
Family and close friends of Hicks express a shared sentiment that proceeding with the tournament aligns with what he would have wanted.
