The Super Bowl is still months away, but it appears that the NFL has decided upon the act they’d like to see during halftime, and it’s sure to please. Katy Perry is going to be the entertainment during the 2015 Super Bowl Halftime show, and people are thrilled. It’s been months since the singer’s name was announced as a candidate for the show, and it’s officially official now. Who will perform with her? We aren’t sure about that just yet. It was rumored that potential celebs might include anyone from Coldplay to Rihanna, but there has been no official announcement on this.
Over the summer, the Wall Street Journal reported that there was a rumor going around that the NFL had decided to ask their performers to pay them for the ‘honor’ of performing during the halftime routine at the Super Bowl. It’s common knowledge that the NFL does not pay its celebrities to perform during halftime, but it was met with significant criticism that the idea of soliciting money for the ‘honor’ of singing during halftime was even thrown around for a second.
Perry appeared on College Game Day on ESPN on October 4 and made a statement about that particular rumor. “I’m not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl,” so we assume that this rumor is something that won’t be coming true if she’s performing.
Fans can expect an announcement in the next few weeks confirming that the star is performing at the Super Bowl, as well as one announcing who the world can expect to see performing with the superstar singer. Right now, it looks like it will be another big name if past shows are any indication. In the past, Super Bowl performances have been collaborations from artists such as Bruno Mars and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, as well as Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson.
